FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Harley-Davidson®Footwear Allows Riders to Stay Plugged-In to Winter Riding
New Men’s Style Brings Customized Warmth with the Touch of a Button
Rockford,Mich. (June 28, 2011) – Harley- Davidson® riders have a new reason to get amped up for cold weather rides. Debuting this October, Harley-Davidson® Footwear introduces a state-of-the-art riding boot that delivers hours of customized warmth with each wear.
Designedto take on the toughest elements, the men’s Heated Boot features Thermalbed Technology that uses a lithium polymer battery to power a thin, chargeable material built into the front of the boot’s footbed. The heated technology offers three warmth settings that are selected with the touch of the glowing H-D logo displayed on the boot’s leather upper. The highest “Red” setting is intended for the most extreme weather conditions, keeping feet warm and comfortable with up to 140 degrees of heat for up to 3.5 hours. The medium “Yellow” setting heats to 122 degrees for up to five hours of heat and is the perfect setting for moderately cold conditions. Lastly, when there’s just a chill in the air, the low heat “Green” setting delivers 113 degrees of heat for as long as seven hours.
Tocharge the internal battery, the wearer must plug the included AC charger into an electrical outlet and connect it to the DC input port discretely featured on the back of each boot. Full charging time takes approximately 4.5 hours and each lithium battery has a lifespan of two to three years or 400 charge/discharge cycles.
Such advanced technology is not often seen in performance riding footwear.
“The Heated Boot is the first of its kind for riding footwear. The Thermalbed Technology is groundbreaking for the footwear market in general,” said Hobie Burgnon, vice president of sales for Harley-Davidson Footwear. “We’re thrilled to be bringing it to the motorcycle community. After all, just because the weather gets colder doesn’t mean we don’t still hear the call of the open road.”
The men’s eight-inch lace-up features a classic silhouette that is highlighted by the supple sheen of a full-grain leather upper. The Heated Boot also features a Hydro-Guard® waterproof membrane that provides superior breathability, letting moisture out but never in. The aggressive tread and superior traction and durability of the abrasion, oil and slip-resistant Vibram® rubber outsole compliment a boot already built for the toughest rides and harshest conditions.
This performance riding boot will be available exclusively at Harley-Davidson dealerships nationwide and will be riding into stores starting mid-October 2011.
